“I moved to Nashville to be it's newest sexy, young artist.”
— Doug Robertson
Doug "Songuy" Robertson is an award-winning singer-songwriter based in Nashville, Tennessee. A performer since the age of nine with a passion for creating catchy and meaningful music, Robertson was recently honored by The Nashville Music Awards for his work as Male Singer-Songwriter. He has been described as a blend of Classic Rock, Blues, and Americana. Doug is known for his soulful vocals, suprisingly energetic & driving acoustic guitar and his ability to connect with audiences of all ages.
Robertson is no stranger to the music scene. 1975 saw him forming the Christian rock group SHELTER, recording his first commercial song “Bridge Builder” on Sangre' Productions 1978 compilation album “Come Back Soon”. In subsequent years, Doug performed as a soloist and with others as "Doug Robertson and Company", recording his solo album “New Clothes” in 1996.
Adding Woodstock era cover tunes to his stage show resulted in the band “Max Yasgur's Farm” and the release of the “Salute” album of 2006 featuring those covers and an in your face original titled “Shove It”! After a 17 year run as a successful festival band, Robertson retired the group and returned to his songwriting roots for another solo album.
Recording in Reno, Nv. and Nashville Tn. studios, he emerged in 2020 with his “Epiphany ” EP featuring diverse song styles from Western Swing “Why Are Armadillos In Nashville?” to the outstanding Light Rock “Portola” and Country Outlaw Rocker “Hey Boss You're Fired”.
In 2022, he released the rockabilly tune “No Competition.” 2023 saw releases of a Big Hair Rocker "You've Got To Tell Her", the Santana-inspired "She Ain't As Beautiful As She Looks", the blues tune “I Needed Your Lies” and a swampy "Eat Good" for the holidays.
His early 2024 release was the poinent love song he wrote for his wife “Friends At Night”.
Doug writes songs that are “Out of the box and a little off-center" as he puts it. "I'm always looking to throw in some unexpected lyric or musical twist when I write."
2025 found him writing and recording reggae, sneezing and heartfelt songs while he explores placements in the sync market. Stay tuned to see where they end up!
Robertson's music is available on songuy.com and all major music platforms.
