There are some places in a music town that are "Must Play" venues to be seen at if you were going to be somebody. The Bla Bla Cafe' was one of them in L.A.
Doug was in a group that was opening Saturday nights for Al Jarreau. A little naive, Doug didn't realize the venue catered to LGBQ community and couldn't figure out why the women who came to the shows were unresponsive to his advances. He finally figured it out at The Bla Bla Cafe'.

Recorded at Mondo Music Studio, Reno, Nv.

Featuring:
Doug Robertson: Acoustic Guitar and Vocals
Dan Mikeal: Vocals and Lead Guitar
Don Carpenter: Bass
Larry Yarborough: Drums
Bene' Michael: Vocals

Lyrics

Sally was a black man,
found a way to make his stand,
waiting tables & kissing hands,
at the Bla Bla Cafe!
Alan sings his jazz songs,
keep you there all night long.
And the groove keeps you hanging on
at the Bla Bla Cafe!

It’s The Bla Bla Cafe,
Just a slice of old L.A.,
No one is denied,
So take a seat, come inside!

Cooking in the kitchen,
oven, grill, Tom & Jim,
No lady separates them
at the Bla Bla Cafe!
Sally throws a sly wink,
to Tom, by the kitchen sink,
And Jimmy there is turning pink
at the Bla Bla Cafe!

It’s The Bla Bla Cafe,
Just a slice of old L.A.,
No one is denied,
So take a seat, come inside!

Mighty fine ladies there.
Always seem to come in pairs.
Treat them with the greatest care.
The best you get’s a cold stare!

Alan has to duck down;
Jimmy’s throwing pans around,
And Sally's dancing to the sound,
at the Bla Bla Cafe!
