I don’t dance well as Don Carpenter my bass player could testify. I would stand with him on stage dancing to the song we were playing and I would throw him off the rhythm because I am so offbeat. (Think Julia Louis-Dreyfus dancing on “Seinfeld”). The Hero in “No Competition” isn’t me! He gets lots of tempting opportunities to drift, but the strength of his relationship keeps his focus on her!
Lyrics
NO COMPETITION
©Doug Robertson CD Baby Publishing
I get offers to dance, to get lost in romance,
To be pleasured ‘till my senses reel.
Lonely Ladies and sexy babys,
I admit that they’ve got their appeal
I look at it all, at my beck and call,
Feel the pull, but then walk away
Strong are their charms
But they don’t have the arms
Of the woman I see everyday.
AND THERE’S NO COMPETITION
SHE WINS HANDS DOWN AGAINST ALL OPPOSITION
SHE BLOWS THEM OFF THE ROAD,
SHE’S GOING AFTER THE GOLD,
YEAH THERE’S NO COMPETITION
She laughs at my jokes, and she knows when to poke fun,
Sees me with my morning hair
Through my moods, and my bad attitudes,
when I’m down, she’ll always be there.
She helps with my schemes, pursuing my dreams,
Puts up with my crazy hours
She’s the best blend, of lover and friend.
Her love has unbreakable power!
You know It’s not the kids or the ring on my finger,
nor the fear of being alone
It’s her, she's my greatest desire,
You know her love keeps me coming on home
All of you cuties, you sensual beauties,
you tempt me, but I am aware
You might be fun, but I’m stuck on one, Against her, you don’t have a prayer.
