POST CHRISTIAN ERA LOVE SONG is a tongue in cheek observation of modern day courting practices and the vicious cycles we enter in. "We were meant forever! But it lasted only a year." Doug goes a little crazy at the end as things get more and more ridiculous.

Lyrics

POST CHRISTIAN ERA LOVE SONG
V1
I saw you at a concert, you were such a fine chick
I knew that loving you would be the ultimate trip
so I asked you your name and if you wanted to love me tonight?
We went to my home and had a couple of beers,
We talked about our hopes and all our dreams and our fears,
And I knew our love was so real, and it would last for awhile.
Chorus
Loving together in our society
No ties and no bonds and no permanency,
Nothing forcing us together, we were totally free
Until we broke up.
V2
You moved in with me and brought your albums and dishes
You fulfilled all my dreams and all my secret wishes
We were meant forever, but it lasted only a year.
I guess you tired of me and you said we were through
You went on your way to do what's natural to you
As I wished you the best I felt this deep pain down here in my heart
Chorus
Bridge
We never married, but some powerful force
ripped at my heart as if we'd had a divorce
We had no commitment, but we had to account for our sin.
V3
So hurting and defeated and consoling my wounds,
I filled up the void the way I usually do,
At the concert was a chick so I asked her if she'd love me tonight.
